Although I had fallen off the blogging wagon, I hadn't entirely fallen off the additive free food wagon. We are still very much living a wholefoods life as best we can. I'm no angel. I still look for short cuts and ways that are quick and easy as I am working full time now.

I am however, still very much a creature of habit. I have two Sanitarium Weet Bix every morning with full cream milk and zapped in the microwave for a minute. Hey, they are quick, full of fibre and keep me regular like clockwork!!

I did used to smother them in raw sugar after that, but I have for the past year cut my sugar intake dramatically. I now no longer have it in my million coffee's a day (that took 12 months to ween me off!) and I now no longer put it on  my Weet Bix, because quite frankly anything from a packet will be sweet enough.

I now however, have them with pure maple syrup (still a sweet tooth) and a sprinkling of chia seeds as I like the crunchy texture. Sometimes banana. I was thinking however, that I would like to change things up a bit with my family to still see if we can get away from the packet foods. It still had to be fast and tasty though. So, I have tried this recently new fad of breakfast bowls.

I have to say I like these. They are easy to assemble and when all mixed together they are scrumptious. The kids are able to do them easily themselves as well, and you can be confident they are getting a cross section of vitamins and minerals, fibre and calcium in a fun way. It's also a great way of using up leftovers or the bits in the bottom of your jars.

In the examples of shown below I have the following (basically all I had in the pantry at the time!):
- plain greek yoghurt
- frozen blueberries
- muesli
- shredded coconut
- chia seeds
- sliced banana
- pure maple syrup

What would you put in a breakfast bowl?

Bec Taylor is a lover of all things quick, convenient and tasty. Her favorite foods are sloppy, cheesy and hopefully cooked in one pot as she hates doing the dishes!
